37 teachers died in Kaduna bomb blast - NUT president

The National President of the Nigerian Union of Teachers, Micheal Olukoya, says that 37 teachers died in the bomb incident that rocked Sabongari in Kaduna state yesterday July 7th. The teachers were at the state secretariat to partake in the verification exercise initiated by the government to weed off ghost workers. 

While speaking at the Founders day of the Nigerian Union of Teachers in Abuja today July 8th, Mr Olukoya said so far, 272 teachers had lost their lives to the various Boko Haram attacks in Borno State alone and that over 19,000  had been displaced in the North East.

Police say this baby-faced 12 year old is an assasin

US police captured baby-faced 12-year-old boy Jarrell Milton  on July 7th, after an interstate manhunt that lasted over a week. The 12 year old is a suspect in the murder of a 31 year old man named Jamymell Ray who was shot dead on June 29th during a drug deal gone wrong.

According to Omaha police, Jarrell, alongside his 17 year brother Jamar Milton and their friend 15 year old Shuntayvious Primes-Willis, shot the man in Omaha, Nebraska as he met them at a park to sell them drugs. They didn't want to pay for the drugs, so they shot the man and his partner. Jarrell was the last person to be caught and all three teens are have been charged with first-degree murder.

Mastermind of Jos & Zaria bomb blasts arrested by Nigerian military

The Nigerian military says it has arrested a mastermind of the bomb blast that rocked the city of Jos, Plateau state and Zaria, Kaduna state. Twin bomb explosion killed over 40 people in Jos on July 5th while over 25 persons were confirmed dead in the Zaria bomb yesterday July 7th.

45-year old Lawrence Agbe (pictured above) was yesterday July 7th arrested by security officials at the Muritala Mohammed International Airport Ikeja Lagos while trying to transport fake dollar bills totaling $2.1 million from Lagos to Abuja. 

While speaking on the arrest, the Commissioner of Police for the command, Mr. Fredrick Lakanu, said during interrogation Lawrence said the fake dollar bills were owned by one Steve.

"After further interrogation, the suspect mentioned one Steve residing in Abuja as the owner of the said €1.25m. But Steve is at large.”CP Lakanu said

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) insists that contrary to claims by the Presidency, the  $2.1 billion Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) component of the bailout for states was actually saved by the immediate past President Jonathan-led PDP administration.
The party said in actual fact the LNG dividend stood at $5.6 billion even before the handover date of May 29th and would have been shared but for the insistence of former President Goodluck Jonathan that it be left for the incoming administration to manage.

Gov Ambode orders enforcement of law prohibiting street trading, begging in Lagos

There's already an existing law in Lagos prohibiting street trading and begging in the state but people still do it. But today, Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode directed the Task Force on Environmental Sanitation and Other Special Offences to carry out full enforcement of the law restricting it

In a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Tunji Bello, the governor asked street traders to go sell their wares in the markets, that if they continue to sell on the streets, they will be arrested and prosecuted.

A Warri based couple, Mr and Mrs Francis Onyeji have been arrested by men of the Ekpan police station in Delta state for defiling and assaulting 13 year old girl pictured above.

According to ThisDay,  the 13 year old JSS 2 girl was constantly subjected to sexual abuse by Mr Onyeji. When the wife, Chibuzor, who is the little girl's aunt found out, she battered the girl, accusing her she was lying against her husband.

End to Boko Haram in Nigeria is in sight - President Buhari

President Buhari says that the end of terror group Boko Haram in Nigeria is in sight. He said this in a statement released today July 8th. The statement released by Shehu Garba, SA to President Buhari on Media and Publicity reads in part;

Wife of PDP Chieftain in Rivers state murdered

Mrs. Ebire Ejor, the wife of a chieftain of PDP in Rivers state and former Executive Chairman of Eleme Local Government Council, Chief Ejor Ngowah Ejor was murdered by unknown gunmen in Port Harcourt the Rivers state capital.

According to reports, Mrs Ejor was abducted in Port Harcourt on Sunday July 5th and her body was found in a remote village in Eagles Island in the state on Tuesday, July 7th. The state party chairman yesterday condemned the killing, describing it as “unwarranted, barbaric and shocking”,

Boko Haram prisoners will be relocated from Anambra state very soon - Gov Obiano

The Governor of Anambra state Willie Obiano says Boko Haram prisoners who were recently taken to the Ekwulobia prison in the state will soon be relocated. Governor Obiano said this after a meeting with members of the National Security Council who were at the government house in Awka earlier today. Addressing the press, Governor Obiano said 
"I want to reassure you that the meeting went very well. The various communities in Anambra, the markets, the car Unions, the churches, our traditional institutions and others made a great point to them that we want this people removed and removed immediately. They have reassured that they will take up our message back to Abuja and that this people will be removed very soon" he said

4 year old Summer Steer died in 2013 after swallowing a small lithium battery - she was taken to the hospital 3 times after she started vomiting blood but doctors didn't know what was wrong with her.

According to ABC News, an inquest heard that Summer went into cardiac arrest after ingesting the button-shaped battery on June 30, 2013, despite doctors telling her mother she would be fine.

Summer, from Queensland, Australia, was taken to Noosa Hospital after she began complaining of a sore stomach, a high temperature and black bowel movements. She later began vomiting blood and collapsed at home after being discharged by doctors.

Police find baby's body in river after father attempts suicide

Connecticut police said yesterday that they had found the body of the 7-month-old boy they believe may have been tossed into a river by his father, who had tried to kill himself at the same time.

Middletown police responded to a report of a body found in the river near East Haddam, Connecticut, around 8 p.m., the department said in a statement. Detectives and Connecticut State Police confirmed the body was that of Aaden Moreno, who had been missing since early Monday.

EFCC arrest former Gov. Sule Lamido and his two sons

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arrested the former Governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido, for alleged money laundering-related offences.
Investigations revealed that operatives of the anti-graft agency picked up the former governor and his two sons, Mustapha and Aminu in the early hours of Tuesday in Abuja.

It was learnt that the EFCC leadership ordered a crack team of detectives to fly them to Kano by 2.30 pm to prepare them for their arraignment for alleged fraud that amount to billions of naira.

Los Angeles Judge refuses to dismiss murder case against Suge Knight

A judge ruled Tuesday that Marion "Suge" Knight should stand trial on murder charges even though a key witness, one of the men he's accused of running over, refused to identify him in court.

Cle "Bone" Sloan told detectives it was Knight who ran over him and another man outside a Compton burger stand in January, killing the other man and seriously injuring Sloan. But when Sloan testified about the incident at Knight's preliminary hearing in April, he refused to say Knight ran him over.

APC, PDP at war over source of bailout funds

Top members of the APC and the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, are reportedly divided over the sources of the N804.7 billion relief package being considered to bail out states who haven't paid workers salaries.

The PDP said that a very large amount of the bailout funds came from savings left behind by the administration of Dr Goodluck Jonathan, however, the Presidency disagreed, arguing that the money came from proceeds of Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG).

An Indonesian court on Monday July 6th sentenced 33 year old Nigerian man Uzoma Elele Alpha (pictured above) to life imprisonment for possessing banned substances - methamphetamine and marijuana - worth an estimated $451,400.

Uzoma was arrested at his apartment at the Margonda Residence tower in Depok in December 2014 during a raid by authorities from the immigration office. The banned substance was found in his home after a search was conducted. Uzoma was discovered to also be living in the country illegally.

North Korean leader, Kim Jong-un 'executes aquarium boss' after baby turtles starve to death

Kim Jong-un
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un is reported to have executed the boss of an aquarium after several dozen baby turtles starved to death. Kim is pictured above berating staff during a visit to the terrapin farm in February this year.

The tyrant became angry after workers claimed many baby reptiles were dying because of frequent power outages and a lack of adequate food supplies. He then ordered the execution of the terrapin farm's manager, who was taken outside and shot to death, according to South Korea news agency the DailyNK.

Nigerians react as Presidency set to build a helipad for Buhari in his hometown

According to a report by ThisDay, the presidency is currently building a helipad in Daura, the hometown of President Buhari in Katsina state. According to sources who spoke to ThisDay, the Helipad is being constructed to help ease the president's travels to his hometown. For now, whenever he travels to Katsina state using the presidential jet, he has to travel by road to his hometown after landing at Katsina Airport but with the helipad, he will be landing right in his hometown. NDLEA- Nigeria records highest number of drug related convicts in the World

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, announced that Nigeria has the highest number of persons serving jail terms for drug related offences worldwide.

Iweajunwa Okechukwu, the NDLEA commander in the state disclosed this while celebrating the 2015 UN Drug Free Day in Minna on Friday.
“There is no doubt that as a country, the menace of drug abuse and trafficking is one of the biggest problems staring us in the face today.
“All over the world, Nigerians are notorious for drug trafficking. We have the highest number of traffickers serving jail terms more than any other country in the world,’’ he said. 

Texas woman arrested for unwanted BJ

Good Samaritan allows woman to hear her husband's voice before he dies

"You don't know who I am but I'm here with your husband and he's been in a terrible accident."
Those are the words Tami Cochran heard when she answered the phone from an unknown caller on Saturday night. On the other end of the phone, was Bianca Walker.

Emmanuel Adebayor's mum and brother, Rotimi, beg for forgiveness

Emmanuel Adebayor’s mother Alice and his younger brother, Rotimi have apologized him following a visit of a delegation from Nigeria. The woman, Vicky Xipolitakis, was filmed helping fly the plane on a domestic flight as it left Buenos Aires for the city of Rosario. By allowing her into the cabin, the pilots broke international aviation rules by letting an unauthorized person sit in the cockpit.

'I put two bullets in him, I haven't slept since' - Tunisian policeman reveals how he finally killed beach gunman

A Tunisian police officer has revealed how he put 'two bullets' in the ISIS assassin to end his slaughter of holidaymakers lounging on a tourist beach.

The policeman, who wished to keep his identity secret, said he shot the murderer Seifeddine Rezgui following his 25-minute rampage. He spotted the gunman while he was praying in a side street and shot the 23-year-old aviation student, who was armed with an assault rifle and grenades.

Woman in Australia killed by cheap phone charger

Australian authorities issued a warning about cheap, non-compliant USB-style chargers after a young woman died from apparent electrocution while using a laptop and possibly a smart phone. 

The 28-year-old was found wearing headphones and with her computer in her lap with burns on her chest and ears at a home in Gosford, north of Sydney.
Police are still investigating the circumstances of the death but the Department of Fair Trading, which has assisted with the case, suggested a sub-standard mobile phone charger could be to blame.
