Speaking to Saturday Beats, Alex admitted her marriage lasted for a short time though she was not ready to reveal how long she was married.

Nigerians react as Presidency set to build a helipad for Buhari in his hometown

According to a report by ThisDay, the presidency is currently building a helipad in Daura, the hometown of President Buhari in Katsina state. According to sources who spoke to ThisDay, the Helipad is being constructed to help ease the president's travels to his hometown. For now, whenever he travels to Katsina state using the presidential jet, he has to travel by road to his hometown after landing at Katsina Airport but with the helipad, he will be landing right in his hometown. NDLEA- Nigeria records highest number of drug related convicts in the World

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, announced that Nigeria has the highest number of persons serving jail terms for drug related offences worldwide.

Iweajunwa Okechukwu, the NDLEA commander in the state disclosed this while celebrating the 2015 UN Drug Free Day in Minna on Friday.
“There is no doubt that as a country, the menace of drug abuse and trafficking is one of the biggest problems staring us in the face today.
“All over the world, Nigerians are notorious for drug trafficking. We have the highest number of traffickers serving jail terms more than any other country in the world,’’ he said.

Good Samaritan allows woman to hear her husband's voice before he dies

"You don't know who I am but I'm here with your husband and he's been in a terrible accident."
Those are the words Tami Cochran heard when she answered the phone from an unknown caller on Saturday night. On the other end of the phone, was Bianca Walker.

Emmanuel Adebayor’s mother Alice and his younger brother, Rotimi have apologized him following a visit of a delegation from Nigeria. The woman, Vicky Xipolitakis, was filmed helping fly the plane on a domestic flight as it left Buenos Aires for the city of Rosario. By allowing her into the cabin, the pilots broke international aviation rules by letting an unauthorized person sit in the cockpit.

A Tunisian police officer has revealed how he put 'two bullets' in the ISIS assassin to end his slaughter of holidaymakers lounging on a tourist beach.

The policeman, who wished to keep his identity secret, said he shot the murderer Seifeddine Rezgui following his 25-minute rampage. He spotted the gunman while he was praying in a side street and shot the 23-year-old aviation student, who was armed with an assault rifle and grenades.

Woman in Australia killed by cheap phone charger

Australian authorities issued a warning about cheap, non-compliant USB-style chargers after a young woman died from apparent electrocution while using a laptop and possibly a smart phone. 

The 28-year-old was found wearing headphones and with her computer in her lap with burns on her chest and ears at a home in Gosford, north of Sydney.
Police are still investigating the circumstances of the death but the Department of Fair Trading, which has assisted with the case, suggested a sub-standard mobile phone charger could be to blame.

FG traces looted funds to US, UK and other European countries

The Federal Government has started tracing looted Nigerian funds to foreign countries with the aim of retrieving them.

This move came after  the declaration by President Muhammadu Buhari on his first day in Aso Villa office that he inherited an almost empty treasury from his predecessor, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, thus vowing that his administration would recover all the looted funds kept in foreign banks by corrupt Nigerians.

Father chops off daughter's finger for stealing meat from her mother's pot

Men of the Plateau State Police Command have arrested a 40-year-old man, Surulere Raphael, for cutting off his daughter’s finger on allegation that she stole his money.

Mr Raphael was paraded on Friday at the police headquarters alongside one Ponjue Domsing, who was alleged to have killed his father, Mr. Domsing, for not buying him a motorcycle as promised.
Raphael said he cut off his daughter’s finger because she stole his N1,500 and meat from her mother’s pot of soup. The girl’s severed finger has, however, been recovered as an exhibit, while the girl is being treated in the hospital.

French woman goes on trial for deaths of 8 of her babies

Police contacted the house's previous owners, and quickly discovered the horrifying explanation: Frenchwoman Dominique Cottrez confessed to secretly bearing and then killing eight of her newborns, saying she feared they were children of a long, incestuous relationship with her father.

However, forensic exams on the remains of the eight infants, and tests on her two living grown daughters showed that all were fathered by Cottrez's husband, according to court documents.

President Buhari failed to show up at the meeting the national leaders of the APC called for with the hope of resolving all the issues regarding the choice of candidates to field for the National Assembly leadership election which has already taken place. According to reports, President Buhari was meant to have presided over the meeting which was to hold at the International Conference Center by 9am but he did not show up.

Suicidal woman drives her Porsche the wrong way onto the highway to kill herself but survives

67-year-old wife and mother, Patty Ann Cressaty said she no longer wanted to live so she got behind the wheel of her 2009 Porsche, got on the highway and headed northbound, according to Atlanta police. But Cressaty was on the southbound side of the highway, 15 miles from her home.

Other drivers called 911 to report the wrong-way driver Sunday morning around 11 a.m., but before officers could stop her, there was a fiery, three-vehicle crash.

4 Nigerian women freed after police arrest 6 accused of keeping them as sex slaves in brothels

Four Nigerian women were rescued from 'voodoo' death threats after six people were arrested by Spanish police on suspicion of keeping the frightened victims as sex slaves.

According to investigators, the trafficking ring prostituted women in Lanzarote in the Canary Islands and other parts of Spain after luring them from their families in Nigeria. They are accused of binding them to an oath to pay back money for the passage to Spain and casting voodoo-type spells to guarantee their obedience.

He was returned unopposed by 57 Senators who attended the inauguration of the 8th Senate today June 9th.
Bukola Saraki was the only candidate that was nominated on the floor of the Senate as his contender, Senator Ahmad Lawan and some of his supporters were absent.

In May, 2010, Kalief Browder, a sixteen-year-old high-school sophomore, was arrested in the Bronx for allegedly stealing a backpack. He insisted that he was innocent, but he was taken to Rikers Island, New York City’s four-hundred-acre jail complex. Browder spent the next three years at Rikers, awaiting trial while his case was repeatedly delayed by the courts. In May, 2013, the case against him was dismissed.

Kashamu: Court nullifies arrest warrant, overrules extradition proceedings

A Federal High Court in Lagos has overruled the provisional warrant of arrest secured by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency seeking to extradite the Ogun East senator-elect, Mr. Buruji Kashamu, to the United States to face alleged drug trafficking charges. The court equally made an order halting the extradition further proceedings in an application filed by the NDLEA before the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court on Kashamu. 

FG bans the consumption of Ogogoro nationwide

Following reports of the deaths of quite a number of people after consuming the alcoholic drink, the Federal government has formally placed a ban on the consumption of local gin popularly known as Ogogoro. Worthy of note is the incident in Ondo state in which many people died after developing a strange ailment after consuming the local gin contaminated with methanol.

The DG of the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control NAFDAC, Dr. Paul Orhii announced the ban today. He added that 38 persons have died from consuming contaminated local gin in Rivers state recently.

An 8 years old boy from Ivory Coast found in a suitcase at a Spanish border crossing was reunited with his mother today Monday June 8 while his dad, arrested for trying to smuggle him in, is expected to be released.
"We are very happy. We'll set off again with the little one and we'll try to find his father," Juan Isidro Fernandez Diaz, the family's lawyer, told journalists in Ceuta, a Spanish enclave north of Morocco.

How a 70 year old man was arraigned for stealing goat in Katsina

The police on Monday arraigned a 70-year-old man, Isa Hussaini, at the Upper Customary Court, Sabongari, Zaria, for stealing a goat. Hussaini, a resident of Funtua LGA in Katsina State is facing a one-count charge of theft.

The prosecutor, Cpl. Bashir Abdullahi, told the court that the matter was reported through a distress call by the village head of Yakawada, Alhaji Rilwanu Yakawada in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Woman accuses 4 policemen of torturing her over stolen iPad

Four policemen attached to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Lagos State Command have been accused by a trader at Balogun Market in Lagos, Karamat Eleha, of torturing her over false claims that she stole an iPad at the Idumagbo area in Lagos state on May 14th.

According to Punch, the police said a woman who lives in the Lekki axis in Lagos had laid a complaint to the police that she was robbed of her iPad and other belongings. The police officers took their search to Idumagbo Lagos Island where Karamat and her mother lived in a two storey building.

Oscar Pistorius to be released from jail - after serving just 10 months

The South African paralympian who shot his girlfriend at his home on Valentine's day February 14th 2013 will be released from Kgosi Mampuru prison in two months time, after serving 10 months in prison, it has been revealed. After he leaves prison around August, he will be under house arrest.

However, Oscar's murder acquittal is set to be appealed. Prosecutors have until August 17th to appeal a judge's decision and take Oscar back to court.
